How to Download Multiple Files Easily (aka Batch Downloading)

The following video explains how to use uGet to do batch downloading which refers to adding multiple files to the queue simultaneously for downloading. This video tutorial talks about the Clipboard Monitor, URL Sequence Downloads, Importing from .TXT and .HTML files and using Flashgot through Firefox. I may write a transcript for this video at some point but this video should be plenty to explain it. :)

Changing the Default Download Location/Folder

This process is actually very easy to do...the way to do it is editing the properties of the Home category which is the only category by default.

Textual Walkthrough:

  1. Right click the Home category in the uGet main window.
  2. Select "Properties".
  3. Click the 2nd tab at the top, "Default for new download 1".
  4. Change this setting to whatever location/folder you want to be the default for this category.

This feature and tutorial is not limited to just the Home category...this can be done with as many categories as you want to make allowing you to easily switch between many different default settings and folders.

Ambiance Tray Icons

Radiance Tray Icons

First of all, I would just like to apologize again for missing this before the release of 1.10.3 but unfortunately we didn't so until we can address this and release a permanent fix, I decided to package up the icons separately for those who would like to use them as soon as possible. This download is just a quick fix and will require root to overwrite the existing icons. You'll find the download and the How To after the break...

uGet Feature List Updated, a lot bigger than I thought PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 19 January 2013 08:12 | Written by Michael Tunnell

I'm going to admit something to you all here...I can be kind of lazy sometimes. I know...shocking, right? Anyway, when I was creating the new website I noticed that the homepage wouldn't support all the features of uGet so I just listed about 10 and lazily ended it wtih "many more". When it came to adding all the features to the Features page, I took the lazy route and just copy and pasted the homepage text on that page. (I know, what is the point of the page then)

Yesterday I was hanging out on Twitter and noticed a lot of people posting about all the different features provided by various Linux download managers as if there a ton of features being provided and I couldn't help but think "well that is only a third of what uGet has"...then it dawned on me, "I never freaking added the features list to the Features page". Of course, I started to get a bit mad at myself but instead I decided to just get it done so everyone can see the VAST list of features available in uGet.

So if you go to the Features page now you will see an exhaustive list but still not complete list. Honestly, there are a couple features in uGet that I am not 100% sure of what they do so once I figure those out I'll add those too.

For our loyal uGet advocates who try to share the app with their friends and family but get the response of "there aren't many feature" to you I would like to say "Sorry about that, maybe now you can blow their minds."
