uGet is looking for Developers PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 08 April 2012 17:32 | Written by Michael Tunnell

uGet is currently in a difficult situation when it comes to production and development of our project. We are looking to add as many developers even if you can only contribute an hour of work per year, we'll take it! smiley

The founder and only developer of uGet, C.H. Huang, has had to take an unexpected hiatus from the project, he is not leaving the project but is going to be unavailable for some time. So we are looking to find some people willing to fill the void during his absence.

To answer the obvious question of "Why don't you (as in author of this blog post) take over the project?", The reason I don't take over the development portion of the project is because I am not a developer. I am the Web/Graphic Designer as well as Project Manager for uGet but I have almost zero experience with software development. If I could be considered any kind of developer it would be exclusively on the web side of things.

Important Information:

uGet written in C with GTK+, using cURL and libcurl, there is uglib but it still static library.

Requirements:

We only have one requirement, Open Source Advocate. All development made for uGet will be released under an open source license...so if you are wanting some kind of licensing control, thanks but no thanks.

Ambiance Theme Panel Icons for Gnome2 Distros PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 16 October 2011 22:20 | Written by Michael Tunnell

Here is a preview of the new images on my top panel:

I use Ubuntu 10.10 (for now, though maybe 11.10 soon) and even though I like the logo for uGet (I designed it after all) but for use in a panel I don't really like the green because it stands out way WAY too much as I prefer the monochrome style.

So I created monochrome versions of the icon for my personal use but also releasing it here for anyone who wants to use them.

uGet 1.8.0 - Stable Release PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 24 July 2011 02:06 | Written by C. H. Huang

This version requires GTK+ version 2.18+ or 3.0+
Warning: Don’t compile uGet with libcurl4-gnutls-dev in Ubuntu 11.04 - it is better to use libcurl4-openssl-dev.

Some features will not work if you use aria2 plug-in with aria2 <= 1.9.
If you get message “aria2.getVersion failed”, it mean uget can’t connect to aria2 through XML-RPC.
make sure that your aria2 enable XML-RPC in compiling time and check network configuration.

What’s new since 1.6:
1. support for Torrent and Metalink file (with aria2 plug-in).
2. support for application indicator.
3. It can do speed limit control per download.
4. It can sort downloads by column in “All” category.
5. add scheduler.
6. add new plug-in that support aria2 version >= 1.10.
7. add new timestamp columns – “Added On” and “Completed On”.
8. add configure option “–with-gtk3″ to enable GTK+3 support.
9. add Belarusian translation file (Mihas Varantsou)
10. move web site from http://urlget.sourceforge.net/ to http://uget.visuex.com/
