Install via the official uGet PPA
By using the official uGet PPA repository, ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-stable, you will be kept up to date with the latest versions of uGet automatically through Ubuntu's Software Updater.
Current Stable Version: 2.0.8
The uGet Beta/Development PPA repository, ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-devel, is for people who want the absolute latest versions of uGet even if they aren't officially ready for everyone. If you are not comfortable with Beta software, please do not use this PPA however if you are comfortable with it and want to help test future versions then that would be great.
Current Development Version: 2.1.4
elementaryOS bases their distro only on LTS versions of Ubuntu, which in general this is just fine but elementary does not bother with Backport Updates or manual updates to apps. If your app isn't one of the lucky apps, like uGet, to be managed separately by Ubuntu then elementaryOS will ignore your app entirely. This means that apps installed from the elementaryOS repositories will not be updated for at least 2 YEARS, I say at least because it could be longer. Freya was released in April 2015, but before that Luna was only providing a version that was 3 Years out of date.
Latest version of uGet in elementaryOS's repository: 1.10.4
* It is NOT Recommended for uGetters to ever install from elementaryOS' official repo. Please use our PPA or one of the DEB packages.
Install the aria2 Plugin
Unfortunately, there is not a way to get the latest version of aria2 in elementaryOS as the official PPA was discontinued. However, this is fine in terms of uGet because version 1.18.1 has all of the needed features utilized in uGet.
