We are releasing 1.10.4 officially later today so I am posting this to let all the uGetters know that the uGet Project is running a User Survey to find out more about our users. The information gathered in the survey will help us with the future of uGet as well as potentionally new ideas and features to improve uGet overall. Just for clarification, there may be some questions that do not apply to everyone so if a question doesn't apply to you then just skip the question.

If you think of a question that we should add feel free to let us know in the comments below and we'll consider adding it. We are just trying to learn a bit about our community in the hope of making it even better and making uGet even better.

uGet Extension for Chrome / Chromium is Now Available! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 07 October 2013 19:00 | Written by Michael Tunnell

Update: Unfortunately, Google decided to remove support for NPAPI in Chrome which breaks our extension but we are working on a replacement so this blog post is currently out of date, I will make a new blog post when the new extension is done and ready for use. Sorry.

uGet Integration v1.0.1, the extension for Google Chrome and Chromium is available!

We at the uGet Team are pleased to announced the immediate availability of the Google Chrome / Chromium Extension for uGet called uGet Integration. uGet Integration was created in a joint effort thanks to Roque Pinel & Michael Tunnell. I (Michael Tunnell) would like to thank Roque for his contribution to this extension, which really entails 95% of the work, because without him this Extension wouldn't have been possible.

uGetters be sure to show your appreciation to Roque and we hope you all enjoy the extension. (click read more for download link)

uGet + Transifex = Easy to Use Translation Management PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 11 June 2013 03:32 | Written by Michael Tunnell

We are very excited to announce that we have added our project to the Transifex's Translation Management System at

This system is allow uGet's translators an easy way to manage, submit, update and add localization to the project. uGet supports 15 Languages right now and all of them have been migrated to Transifex for easy updating. New languages are welcome and hopefully Transifex will make the process much easier. My favorite features of Transifex so far are the progress bar and line tracking. Progress is tracked and displays how close to complete a translation is and the line tracking makes it easy to find any lines that may have been missed before and you can easily sort the lines by what has and hasn't been translated.

I am very excited to start using Transifex more and more to make uGet more and more accessible to as many languages as possible. Thank you very much to Raphael Groner of the uGet German Team for suggesting we use this system!

Below are intructions on how to become a uGet Translator or just to get access to your current language on Transifex...

uGet Reaches 100,000 Downloads! PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 08 June 2013 06:58 | Written by Michael Tunnell

We are excited to announce that uGet has recently reached and exceeded 100,000 Downloads! This number will only grow so obviously we are excited about the future of uGet. Thank You to all the uGetters out there doing your part to share and grow the uGet community. This number is probably much larger when it comes to installs though because at the time Distros do not provide a way to see how many times your app is installed directly from their repos but hopefully that changes soon. We'd love to know exactly how many users we have as well as how many on each distro.

Thanks again to all of the uGetters and looking forward to another 100,000 and more!
